Kris – Booth Butler
Up close and personal
In order to provide a deeper insight into the venue and services provided at Manor House Hill, Kris fired over a handful of questions to Emma and Micheal, and they were more than happy to provide the following answers below.
How did you find the process of starting in the wedding industry?
With our children leaving home and just starting out as a bed and breakfast with 5 bedrooms, the prospect of being a wedding venue had never been in the pipeline for us, until a couple approached us as a venue asking to host their wedding reception in a marquee in our garden, after a successful afternoon and evening, the idea of becoming an established wedding venue became a quick reality and we haven’t looked back since.
What was the biggest learning curve for you upon entering the wedding industry?
Quickly learning how to cater to and host large groups of people, listening to expectations from the couple, and their specific requirements and delivering on the day everything that they have been planning over a long period of time, bringing their ideas together within the permissions of the venue.
What do you think separates Manor Hill House from any of its competitors?
Our beautiful rural setting is surrounded by the beautiful Worcestershire countryside but also in an ideal location for visitors travelling a bit further afield due to motorway accessibility. Nearby to a whole host of great local accommodations for wedding guests, and our consistent communication from our teams to deliver a spectacular day for our couples and their families.
How can couples go about booking your services?
Couples can enquire directly with us which would always be our preferred method of communicating either through our website direct, phoning or emailing the coordinating team, as we feel this gives a much more personal touch. We are also on several wedding sites with links to enquire with us.
In terms of booking, we are fairly flexible on time frames as this can range from two months to two years in advance, some weddings on a smaller time frame have ended up being absolutely spectacular!

What advice would you give to those planning a wedding and looking to book
any wedding venue?
The best advice when searching for a wedding venue would be to list your top criteria and must-haves for a venue before viewing any, working closely with the venue teams from the word go to utilise their guidance and to ensure no miscommunication occurs and as a couple, the expectations can always be met right from the start of your wedding journey.
Is there anything that you’d like to mention about your services or the wedding hire process that many people forget to mention?
We have very transparent costs when it comes to pricing with our venue, in comparison to other venues, finishing touches and extras can often be at a hidden additional cost which isn’t always apparent upon booking. We make our costs very clear when quoting to a couple to ensure they are never misled during their booking process, and there are a lot of included extras in with the
venue price.
What has been your favourite moment at a wedding you have had over the years?
A favourite moment of mine was a Friday afternoon in July 2021, when a best man phoned in a frenzy desperately trying to find a location for his friend’s wedding after their venue had closed its doors on them unwilling to accommodate the wedding that was due to happen the next day! With a rally around the team, and numerous quick discussions between the couple, our coordinators and Chef, to make certain we would be able to pull it all off.
The wedding was arranged. Before we knew it, in no time a whole new wedding was planned and delivered spectacularly in under 24 hours, the couple ended up saying it was everything and more than they had ever wished for and were grateful that we at Manor Hill House were able to turn a crisis around and pulled off a fabulous day at such short notice.
Lastly Just for fun, what gets you on the dancefloor at a wedding? is there a particular song? A particular drink? Or is it a lot of arm twisting?
Brown Sugar by the Rolling Stones holds a lot of particularly fond memories for us, and I am also a great David Bowie fan. Champagne is also a favourite – If you’re going to celebrate, then do it in style!
